Terms of Service
In short: Sehtak is an information directory of UAE healthcare providers and a personal, on-device organizer for your own medical records. It is not a healthcare provider and gives no medical advice. Providers are independent — a listing is not a recommendation. Bookings are appointment requests you settle directly with the provider; Sehtak takes no payment. Your medical passport lives only on your device, so you are responsible for its accuracy and backup. In an emergency call 998 or 999.
1. Acceptance and eligibility
1.1 These Terms of Service (the "Terms") are a binding agreement between you and Sehtak L.L.C-FZ, a company registered in the United Arab Emirates ("Sehtak", "we", "us"), governing your use of the Sehtak mobile application and the pages published at this address (together, the "Service").
1.2 By creating an account, or by using the Service as a guest, you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to these Terms and to the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1.3 You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or use the Service. The Service is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly create accounts for minors.
1.4 If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you confirm you are authorized to bind that organization to these Terms.
2. What the Service is
2.1 Sehtak is two things, and only these two things:
- an information directory that helps you discover healthcare providers in the United Arab Emirates; and
- a personal organizer — a "medical passport" — for records you choose to keep on your own device.
2.2 Sehtak is an information and organizational tool. It is not a medical service, an insurer, a pharmacy, a laboratory, a booking agent acting for providers, or a party to any care you receive. Features such as search, favorites, booking requests, reviews and reminders are conveniences layered on those two functions.
2.3 We may add, change, suspend or remove features at any time. Some features are limited or disabled in the current version (for example, writing reviews) and may or may not be enabled later.
3. Not medical advice; no doctor–patient relationship
3.1 The Service does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment or clinical opinion of any kind. Listings, categories, specialties, ratings, reviews, opening hours, prices and every other piece of directory content are information only.
3.2 Nothing in the Service creates a doctor–patient, pharmacist–patient, or any other professional-care relationship between you and Sehtak. We are not your healthcare provider and we do not practise medicine.
3.3 The records, reminders, emergency card and nutrition entries you keep in your medical passport are a self-managed organizer for your own reference. They are not a clinical record, not a prescription, and not a substitute for the professional records kept by your own clinicians.
3.4 Always seek the advice of a licensed physician or other qualified health professional with any questions about a medical condition, and never disregard or delay professional advice because of something you read in the Service. See the full Medical Disclaimer.
4. Emergencies
The Service is not for emergencies. In a medical emergency in the UAE call 998 (ambulance) or 999 (police) immediately. Sehtak cannot summon help, cannot contact a provider on your behalf, and must never be relied on when time matters. The emergency card only displays information you chose to store on your own device.
5. Provider independence
5.1 Every provider in the directory is an independent third party. Providers are not employed by, agents of, partners of, endorsed by, licensed by, supervised by, or controlled by Sehtak.
5.2 A listing is a directory entry, not a recommendation, referral, endorsement or warranty of any provider, or of the quality, safety, legality, licensing or suitability of any care, product or service they offer. Ratings and reviews are user opinions, not Sehtak's assessment.
5.3 Sehtak does not verify the qualifications, licences or insurance of providers, and does not guarantee that any provider is currently licensed or operating. You are responsible for confirming a provider's credentials, licensing and suitability before relying on them.
5.4 Any interaction, appointment, treatment, payment or dispute is solely between you and the provider. Sehtak is not a party to it and bears no responsibility for it. The "Verified" badge is explained in section 6 and in the Directory Listings policy.
6. Directory accuracy
6.1 Directory content is compiled from publicly available sources and may be incomplete, out of date, or contain errors. Details such as hours, services, specialties, contact numbers, prices and whether a provider is still operating can change without notice.
6.2 The directory is provided "as is". Sehtak does not warrant the accuracy, completeness, currency or reliability of any listing. You must independently verify any detail that matters to you — especially before you travel, book, or make a health decision — by contacting the provider directly.
6.3 A "Verified" badge appears only after Sehtak has taken steps to confirm certain listing details. It is a limited administrative signal, not a clinical endorsement or a guarantee of ongoing accuracy. Where no badge is shown, no such step has been taken. To report an error or request a correction or removal, see the Directory Listings policy.
7. Bookings
7.1 A booking made through the Service is a request for an appointment sent to an independent provider. It is not a confirmed appointment until the provider accepts it, and the provider may accept, decline, reschedule or cancel it.
7.2 Sehtak takes no payment in the app and processes no fees. Any charge for a consultation, service, product or no-show is set by, paid to, and refundable (if at all) by the provider directly, on the provider's terms. Prices shown in the directory are indicative only.
7.3 Sehtak is not responsible for whether an appointment is honoured, for the care or outcome of any visit, for cancellation or no-show policies, or for any dispute about a booking. Those are matters between you and the provider.
7.4 You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you put in a booking request and for attending, cancelling or rescheduling in line with the provider's policy, which is shown to you before you confirm where the provider has supplied it.
8. Your medical passport
8.1 The medical passport — records, documents, photos, medications, nutrition entries, the emergency card and family profiles — is stored only on your device. It is never uploaded to Sehtak's servers, and Sehtak cannot read, back up or recover it. This is a deliberate privacy design, explained in the Privacy Policy.
8.2 Because this data lives only on your device, you are solely responsible for: the accuracy and completeness of what you record; keeping your own backups; and securing your device (screen lock, device encryption, and not sharing an unlocked phone). Anyone with access to your unlocked device can see your passport.
8.3 Loss of the device — or its reset, damage, theft, or the deletion of the app — means loss of the data, unless you have restored it from your own device backup. Sehtak cannot retrieve on-device data it never held, and has no obligation or ability to do so.
8.4 The passport is a personal organizer, not an authoritative medical record. Do not rely on it in place of your clinicians' records, and confirm anything clinically important with your provider.
9. Family profiles
9.1 You may keep profiles for family members — including children and dependents — inside your own on-device passport. These profiles are stored on your device only and never reach Sehtak's servers.
9.2 By adding a family member, you warrant that you have the lawful authority to hold and manage that person's information — as their parent or legal guardian, or with the adult member's own consent — and that you will handle it responsibly. You are responsible for the accuracy of every profile you create and for removing any profile you are no longer entitled to keep.
10. User content and reviews
10.1 "User content" means anything you submit through the Service — for example reviews, ratings, reports, support messages and feedback.
10.2 Licence. For content you submit to be published or processed by the Service (such as a review), you grant Sehtak a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable and sub-licensable licence to host, store, reproduce, display, adapt and distribute that content in connection with operating and promoting the Service. You keep ownership of your content. This licence ends for a given item when you or we remove it, except for copies retained in backups or where retention is required by law.
10.3 Content rules. You are responsible for your content and confirm that it is your own first-hand experience or otherwise something you are entitled to submit. You must not submit content that: is false, misleading, or a fake, paid or incentivized review; contains anyone's personal or health details (including a patient's) without a lawful basis; is defamatory, harassing, hateful, discriminatory, obscene or unlawful; infringes anyone's rights; or contains malware, spam or advertising.
10.4 Moderation. Sehtak may — but is not obliged to — review, refuse, edit, label, remove or restrict any user content, and may suspend or terminate accounts that break these rules, at its discretion and without notice where appropriate. We are not the author of user content and do not endorse it.
10.5 Reviews are currently read-only. Writing reviews is disabled in the current version; the reviews shown are read-only. The rules in this section apply if and when writing is enabled.
11. Acceptable use
11.1 You agree not to misuse the Service. In particular, you must not: scrape, harvest, crawl or bulk-copy the directory or any part of the Service; resell, republish or commercially exploit directory data without our written permission; interfere with, overload, disrupt or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its infrastructure; probe, scan or test the security of the Service, or defeat any rate limit or access control; impersonate any person or provider; upload malware; or use the Service for any unlawful, fraudulent or harmful purpose.
11.2 The full list of prohibited conduct, with examples and how we enforce it, is set out in the Acceptable Use Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
12. Intellectual property
12.1 The Service — including its software, design, brand, name, logo, text, and the compilation, selection and arrangement of the directory — is owned by Sehtak or its licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. Individual factual listing details drawn from public sources are not claimed as our property, but the directory as a compiled work is.
12.2 Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service for your own personal, non-commercial use. All rights not expressly granted are reserved. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, or create derivative works from the Service except as permitted by law.
13. Third-party services
13.1 The Service relies on third-party providers — including Twilio (sign-in codes), Supabase (database hosting) and Google Maps (map imagery on Android) — and can link out to third-party services such as a provider's phone line, WhatsApp, website or a navigation app.
13.2 Those third parties are governed by their own terms and privacy policies, over which Sehtak has no control and for which it is not responsible. Your use of a third-party service is at your own risk.
14. "As is" and "as available"
14.1 To the fullest extent permitted by UAE law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied or statutory — including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, non-infringement, or that the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure or error-free.
14.2 We do not warrant any uptime, availability, or that defects will be corrected, and we may modify, suspend or discontinue all or part of the Service at any time. Nothing in the Service is a warranty about any provider, listing, or the care you may receive.
15. Limitation of liability
15.1 To the fullest extent permitted by UAE law, Sehtak, its owners, directors, employees and suppliers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill or opportunity, arising out of or relating to the Service, even if advised of the possibility.
15.2 Without limiting section 15.1, and to the fullest extent permitted by law, Sehtak is not liable for:
- any act, omission, advice, treatment, product, outcome, error or conduct of any provider or other third party;
- any medical or health outcome, decision, or reliance on directory content or on the medical passport;
- any inaccuracy, incompleteness or unavailability of directory content;
- any loss, corruption or unavailability of on-device data, including the medical passport, which Sehtak never holds; and
- any booking that is declined, changed, missed or disputed, or any charge levied by a provider.
15.3 To the fullest extent permitted by law, Sehtak's total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the Service is limited to AED 100 (one hundred UAE dirhams). The Service is provided free of charge, and this cap reflects that.
15.4 Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under the laws of the United Arab Emirates — for example liability for death or personal injury caused by our proven negligence, or for fraud. Where the law does not allow some of the exclusions or limits above, they apply only to the extent permitted.
16. Indemnification
16.1 To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Sehtak, its owners, directors and employees from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses and reasonable expenses (including legal fees) arising out of or connected with: your misuse of the Service; your breach of these Terms or of any law; your user content; or your dealings with any provider or other third party through the Service.
17. Suspension and termination
17.1 You may stop using the Service at any time and may delete your account in the app (Menu → Settings → Delete account), which is immediate and permanent — see the account deletion page.
17.2 We may suspend or terminate your access, with or without notice, if you breach these Terms, misuse the Service, or where we must do so to protect the Service, other users, providers, or to comply with law. On termination, the licences granted to you end; sections that by their nature should survive (including 3, 5, 8, 10.2, 12, 14, 15, 16, 18 and 19) survive.
18. Governing law and jurisdiction
18.1 These Terms and any dispute arising out of or in connection with them or the Service are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates.
18.2 You and Sehtak submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of the Emirate in which Sehtak L.L.C-FZ is registered [Emirate to be confirmed], without prejudice to any mandatory consumer-protection rights that require another forum.
19. General terms
19.1 Severability. If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, it is modified to the minimum extent necessary or severed, and the remaining provisions stay in full force.
19.2 Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, Medical Disclaimer, Acceptable Use Policy and Directory Listings policy, are the entire agreement between you and Sehtak about the Service and replace any earlier understanding on the subject.
19.3 No waiver. Our not enforcing a provision is not a waiver of it or of our right to enforce it later.
19.4 Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our consent. We may assign them to an affiliate or in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.
19.5 Language. These Terms are published in English and Arabic. If there is a conflict of meaning, the version in which you accepted them prevails to the extent permitted by law.
20. Changes to these terms
20.1 We may update these Terms. We will publish the updated version at this address with a new effective date and version number, and for material changes we will show a notice in the app. Your continued use of the Service after an update takes effect means you accept the updated Terms; if you do not agree, stop using the Service and delete your account.
